Imperial is one of the most popular Elder Scrolls Online races for tanks. Four racial perks help players gain more XP and survive damage. Imperials have 10% more stamina, 12% more HP, gain XP faster when using a one handed weapon and shield and their melee attacks can trigger a life restoring buff. All these passive skills are fantastic for tanking. The only problem is that the Imperial race is not included in the Elder Scrolls Online base version. Nord race belongs to the Ebonheart Pact alliance. Nords have a passive ability that reduces taken damage by 6%. Their health replenishes 30% faster while fighting. Resist frost perk makes them more cold resistant and boosts HP by 9%. The cold resistance increase is nice to have but it's the HP boost that makes this perk good for tanking.

Argonian and Khajiit races may seem uncommon or suboptimal for tanking as their racial perks are not exactly tank like. These two races make a viable choice when playing a Nightblade tank. This is a very versatile class that can succeed as a tank with the right skills and equipment combination.
